Biography

Danish Native
Kristian Jorgensen Bruun was born in Denmark

Christian was born 4 March 1819 in Radsted, Musse, Maribo, Denmark. He was baptized 9 March 1819.

His parents were: Father: Jorgen Rasmussen (Skaaning) Mother: Anne Fredrichsdatter

He married Johanne Pedersdaughter on 9 July 1847 in Grænge, Toreby, Musse, Maribo, Denmark.

This was Johanne's second marriage so her first husband's name Hans Rasmussen Bruun is listed on the marriage record versus her father's name. This was the typical practice in Denmark at this time frame.

His marriage record lists him as a tenant on Christen Henriksen's farm who was also one of his witnesses for the marriage. Hans Pedersen was the other witness. All were from Grænge. Christian was 27 years old at the time of his marriage. Birth date was not listed. His father, Jorgen (Rasmussen) Skaaning, was listed as a farmer also.

Christian and Johanne were farmers in Grænge.

Johanne had three children from her first marriage all who had died.

Christian and Johanne had four children from their marriage. Hans died at birth. The other three children where Maren 1849, Dorthea 1851 and Jorgen 1854.

Johanne proceeded Christian in death on 31 Dec 1858 and was buried 7 Jan 1859.

Christian married Bodil Larsdatter on 18 Mar 1859 in Radsted, Musse, Maribo, Denmark.

They had four children together Hanne 1862, Lars 1865, Margrethe Ane Sine 1869 and Karen Ida 1876.

Christian's son Jorgen from his first marriage was also part of the family.

Maren, Christian's daughter from his first marriage, is not living with the family for some unknown reason. At age eleven shortly after her mother dies and her father remarries she is living with another family as a foster child in Krungerup, Radsted as shown in the 1860 census.

Christian died 27 Jan 1890 in Grænge, Toreby, Musse, Maribo, Denmark.
